Setup Breeder Flocks

Stand up your own breeding stock: define the breed, record your farm, then create the flock the eggs come from.

Overview

A flock ties one breed to one farm. For your own birds, the ownership is Owned. Build the two prerequisites (breed, farm), then create the flock. Everything lives under Hatches in the top navigation bar.

Step 1 — Define the breed

  1. Click Hatches, then the menu on the Flocks bar, and choose Breeds.
  2. Click + next to Breeds.
  3. Enter the Name (e.g. Novogen Brown), a short ID (e.g. NVB), and Incubation Days (defaults to 21).
  4. (Optional) Add Production Template rows — one per week with a Projected Lay Rate and Projected Hatch Rate.
  5. Click Save.

Step 2 — Record your farm

  1. From Hatches, click the menu and choose Farms.
  2. Click + next to Farms.
  3. Enter the Company Name and a short ID. Leave Ad-hoc unchecked (this is your own operation).
  4. Add the Contact and address as needed, then click Save.

Step 3 — Create the flock

  1. Go to Hatches → Flocks and click the orange + for Add New Flock.
  2. Select the Breed and the Farm (both type-to-search).
  3. Enter the ID, Initial Count, Male Count, Mortality %, and Hatched Date.
  4. Set Ownership to Owned.
